PRMU and Tishreen University (Syria) Agreed on Cooperation
The respective agreement was signed on October, 17 in Latakia, Syria during the visit of a delegation from the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The cooperation agreement between Privolzhsky Research Medical University and Tishreen University was signed by Rectors Nikolay Karyakin and Prof. Dr. Bassam Abdulkareem Hassan.
The document indicates that the cooperation agreement aims to promote international cooperation and proceeds from a shared interest in establishing mutually beneficial ties in the fields of education and science, developing and strengthening relations between Russia and the Syrian Arab Republic.
-      Tishreen University is the first university in Syria for us to conclude such an agreement. Cooperation with Syria, and universities in the Middle East in general, is a future-leaning direction. We expect students to come to PRMU Faculty of International Medical Education and are ready to show Russian students the best that medicine of our partner countries can offer. The number of students from Syria is increasing: last year, there were 5 of them; this year, there are as many as 11. I am sure that the trend will continue. It should be emphasized that postgraduate education is especially important to develop: Syrian doctors will be able to come and study with us. In turn, this enables us to promote our own medical technologies abroad, - as Nikolay Karyakin, Rector of PRMU, noted.
Within 6 years, and exceeding that period by mutual consent of the parties, the universities plan to collaborate in research and deliver projects aimed at developing the universities in the areas of education, retraining, advanced training and online training, and also foster academic mobility and manage joint programs.
Tishreen University has over 70,000 students. The university is a member of the Association of Arab Universities (AAU), the Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED) and the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World (FUIW). The university has four faculties pertaining to medicine, among others: Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Nursing.
