FIME students visited the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin

Dry, warm days have arrived in Nizhny Novgorod at last. The 1st year overseas students were very happy with sunny weather; this year has been a transitional one for them in all respects. They had to adapt to a new rhythm of life, a new culture, adjust to unusual foods and cold, sometimes unpredictable weather. So once the opportunity knocked, students fr om India and their advisers from the International Student Support Division set out to explore the city wh ere they will certainly spend another five exciting years ahead.

The Kremlin topped the list of places to visit. Despite the fact that students often come to academic buildings located near the place – popular among the citizens and tourists, – very rarely do they walk through its territory. During the walk, everyone did not only enjoy the views of Strelka and St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, but also learned when and why the Kremlin was built, and saw the timber platform and the ancient brickwork of the Kremlin wall. The numbers 1221 on the paving stones near the walls were a real find! It turned out that this was the year when Nizhny Novgorod was founded.

Extracurricular activities bring groups of students together, broaden their horizons, and help to build confidential relations between students and teachers, which is vital when working with global cohorts.
