PRMU’s foreign students introduced to traditional Maslenitsa celebration
On February 20, a team of foreign students from India, Serbia, France and Turkmenistan took part in the "Maslenitsa – Russian Traditions" interactive event organized by the Department of Social Communications and Youth Policy. The attendees dove into the spirit of Russian folk festival: young people learnt how to make Maslenitsa effigy from straw, how to spell their names in early Cyrillic letters, and, of course, were treated to Russian blini!
These kinds of events help foreign students adapt to a new cultural environment faster, as well as improve their language skills outside the classroom.
As one of the students said, "Yay! Now I know what Maslenitsa is and what can help us live through this harsh snowy winter. I'm starting to understand Russian culture!"
