Boris Evgenievich Shakhov - Honorary Citizen of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of PIMU. Laureate of the Nizhny Novgorod city awards (1993, 2003, 2004, 2008, 2015) and the Russian Government award in the field of education (2011). B.E. Shakhov is one of the founders of interventional cardiology in Russia, created the Nizhny Novgorod scientific school of X-ray surgeons. In 1973, he graduated from the S.M. Kirov State Medical Institute, worked in the City Clinical Hospital No. 5, defended his candidate (1979) and doctoral (1988) dissertations. Since 1980, he has been working at our university. He has come a long way: from assistant to rector (2007-2017). Currently, he is the head of the department of X-ray endovascular diagnostics and treatment at PIMU. The staff of the scientific library of PIMU has prepared an exhibition of the anniversary hero's scientific works "Calling leads to recognition!" (3a Meditsinskaya St.).
