Masterclass in traditional Russian embroidery

Hand embroidery has been popular in Russia for a very long time: it was used to decorate clothes and household items. International students from Algeria and India started learning the most widely-known technique, cross-stitching. The students got to know about different types of canvas for needlework and tried their hand at cross-stitching a mini pattern. The girls wanted to do a cross-stitch embroidery on their clothing right from the start. However, the path to applied embroidery begins with small stitches on a special fabric with holes (a cross-stitch canvas). Necira Malak from Algeria has already put her final stitches.
