International students from India, Iraq and Morocco, together with the advisers of the Department of Foreign Languages, visited the village of Sartakovo

Last weekend, international students from India, Iraq and Morocco, together with the advisers of the Department of Foreign Languages, visited the village of Sartakovo – an island of Russian life in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The purpose of the trip was to visit Berezopolye Museum, which displays the antiques collected by local residents.

The students were impressed by the number of exhibits on display: national clothes of the peoples of the Volga region, household utensils, a large collection of samovars and accordions, unique items of folk crafts, and an art gallery. Our students were captivated by the exhibits.

Apart from visiting the museum, the students got acquainted with other sights of the village of Sartakovo: a wooden church, a monument to Prince Vladimir and even a monument to an accordion! The fountain in the shape of a samovar gave them a surprise as well.

Visiting such authentic places as Sartakovo is crucial to the sociocultural adaptation of overseas students helping them understand Russian culture, the values of our people and, naturally, the Russian language!
