Students from India, Malaysia and Egypt celebrate Cheesefare Week

Fr om March 11 to 17, 2024, Russians celebrated one of the most cheerful and joyful national holidays – Maslenitsa. The advisers of the International Student Support Division introduced students from India, Malaysia and Egypt to old Russian traditions of this holiday: the students learned about daily customs during Cheesefare Week, watched an excerpt from the film "The Barber of Siberia" wh ere the characters celebrated Maslenitsa on a large scale, and were sure to try pancakes with various fillings – jam, sour cream, cottage cheese. The samovar became the subject of special interest. The students found out what the Russians used it for and, certainly, drank fragrant mint tea with bagels. They also noted that they would definitely try to cook pancakes in their homeland.
