PRMU graduates from Kenya return to alma mater after years: reunion, nostalgia and cooperation plans
A delegation from the Republic of Kenya visited Privolzhsky Research Medical University on April 29, 2026, not only to reminisce about their student years, but also to discuss the prospects for academic cooperation.
On April 29, 2026, a delegation fr om the Republic of Kenya visited Privolzhsky Research Medical University. This is not the first time that Dr. Gilbert Katana Angore, Medical Superintendent of Kilifi County Teaching and Referral Hospital level 5, and Malika Niyazova Angore, Head of Pediatrics and Neonatal unit in Malindi Sub-couty Referral Hospital level 4, have visited PRMU. In fact, the Angore couple are graduates of the Faculty of International Medical Education, and this is not the first time they have returned to their first university after graduation. This time, for the first time in many years, Kenyan doctors walked through the halls of academic building No. 4, visited the Museum of Anatomy, and reunited with their first teacher, Professor Irina Gennadievna Stelnikova.
Pleasant nostalgia for the student days was not the only topic of conversation. Representatives of the Kenyan medical community discussed possible strategies for cooperation with our university. Tamara Rudolfovna Bardinskaya, Head of International Affairs Department, listened to Dr. Angore's suggestions with interest and expressed hope in establishing academic and professional ties with the Republic of Kenya. East Africa is one of the priority developing regions, wh ere not only qualified medical care is in demand, but also high–quality medical education. Kenya is the region's leader in education, a country with one of the highest literacy rates on the continent, but it has infrastructure and quality assurance issues in the education field – and in this regard, our university can share its experience.
